The purpose of this blog is to more easily facilitate gospel discussions and help all those who participate become more diligent in studying their scriptures. The way this works is that a question or thought will be posted every Sunday and will be the topic of discussion for that week. We invite all those who are interested to please share your thoughts. However, postings must include credible sources (scripture references, Ensign, Mormon Doctrine, etc) in order to be posted, and must be tagged with the appropriate labels. Aubrey is in charge of moderating all comments-they will not be posted until she approves them.

Appearances After Resurrection

My mom and I were having this discussion today: Are we going to look like ourselves after we are Resurrected, only glorified? Or are we going to be able to change some things about how we look?

I realize this is a fairly old post, I just linked to it when you commented on my blog and I really wanted to comment...

When the Savior came to Mary Magdelene he hadn't ascended to God yet but she recognized him as Jesus. (John 20;16&17)
But when Jesus showed himself to his disciples he had ascended to God, he showed the nail prints in hands and sides. (John 20;20) The disciples recognized that it was Jesus because he had the mortal appearances he had when he was alive. Just like Thomas wouldn't believe it was the savior until he saw the savior. Which if he looked any other way how would have Thomas known it was the Savior himself? (John 20; 27&28)

Somewhere my mother in law has read in Joesph Smith Teachings or something about how he describes Peter and John... Somewhere in that She read that in the spiritual form (Peter and John have not been resurrected yet) and so its easy to assume we will look like ourselves only perfected. Down to the sound of our voice.
